Our Mission: MC-HRSolutions provides timely, effective and concrete solutions for any human resources problem, at a reasonable cost, so that our clients achieve their business goals.
By doing so, we will become the first name that small and medium sized business owners and managers think of when faced with a human resources challenge.
Our three (3) hour workshops are designed for business owners and their supervisory staff. Sessions are designed to ensure that all participants learn through real examples and discussion, and leave with the tools to improve their operations. Participants leave every session with resources that they can use to create their own effective and ethical people management practices.
Maximum enrolment for these workshops is fifteen (15) participants and small businesses with less than fifteen supervisors are encouraged to partner with another business and share the cost of the session. Cost per session: $1200 plus expenses.
Interviewing is much more than a gut feeling. Ensuring that applicants’ possess the required knowledge, skills, personality traits and attitudes is key to hiring an employee who is a good fit for the job and the organization. Behavioral interviewing is a proven tool to ensure that there is a correlation between the knowledge, skills, personality traits and attitudes that an applicant claims to have and those that they truly possess. This session will train hiring managers on how to use behavioral interviewing techniques and provide them with a resource book of sample behavioral interview questions.
As the workforce begins to shrink with the Baby Boomers now starting to retire, effective attraction and selection techniques are paramount to ensure the best and the brightest are working for you. This session breaks effective recruiting into four (4) simple steps, called the ABCDs. By using the ABCD technique you will ensure that you are attracting employees who fit the role and the organization and are effectively able to select the one who fits the best.
Whether investigating a workplace accident, misconduct, or an employee complaint, supervisors need to have a plan before they begin the investigation. The plan includes gathering all necessary information, conducting the interviews strategically and ensuring interview questions are well planned and follow up is effective. This session will provide supervisors with a step by step process to investigate any workplace incident, concrete, strategic tools when conducting investigative interviews, and a strong understanding of the necessary documentation and follow up.
Supervisors can use five (5) simple principles to PRIME their teams for success. The PRIME philosophy helps supervisors build high performing teams with low turnover, low accident rates, low absenteeism, high morale and high productivity. This session will define each component of the PRIME philosophy using real examples from real businesses and give supervisors specific action steps to take back to PRIME their own team.
The Seven Steps to a Safer Workplace:
The best companies show that they care for their employees by having a well defined, communicated and integrated occupational health and safety program. This session will outline the seven steps to creating a safe workplace and provide supervisors with the resources necessary to return to their workplace and begin to implement the seven steps in order to ensure a safer and more productive workplace.
High productivity and morale is achieved by effectively engaging employees. Two aspects of employee engagement are ensuring that each employee’s talents are used and developed, and ensuring that employees are given regular feedback about their performance and recognition when they do a good job. This session will provide supervisors with experience in providing effective feedback through coaching, as well as resources to implement an effective performance management and development program.
How do supervisors deal with employees who are injured and require some modifications in their job to continue working? What about employees whose drug or alcohol use is affecting their job attendance or performance? How about what employers need to know to avoid unintentional discrimination? These kinds of issues can be legal landmines if they’re not handled properly. This session will provide supervisors with the knowledge, processes and resources necessary to avoid the landmines.
Anything a supervisor writes can and may be used against him at some point in time. This is especially important when emailing or writing a letter. Written communication must be clear, concise, unemotional and professional looking. This session will provide supervisors with the dos and don’ts of written communication. Supervisors will leave the session with sample letter templates and the knowledge necessary to ensure that all written communication is professional in terms of content and appearance.
Avoiding participating in inappropriate workplace behavior and effectively dealing with others who participate in it is an important role of supervisors. Supervisors are expected to set the standard for appropriate workplace behavior and hold others to that standard. This session will provide supervisors with a clear definition of harassment and discrimination, an understanding of risky behavior that could easily be perceived as harassing, and the steps on how to deal with a harassment complaint.
